Work packages for the HMC (Human Machine Communication) project ================== Before data collection several work packages were defined. For each work package a preregistration was published. This file contains an overview of them. ## Pregistrations for different work packages WP1 Teresa/Nico/Vanessa/Angelica https://osf.io/58tqc WP2 Teresa WP3 Sonja https://aspredicted.org/4g3d-rqkt.pdf --> This WP examines whether the perception of communicative AI as tool vs. social actor and the modality via which it is used (text, voice, both) are related to cognitive self-esteem. WP4 Büsra https://aspredicted.org/m6zv9.pdf --> This WP examines how viewing AI in a formal (e.g., colleague) versus an informal role (e.g., partner) influences people’s self-efficacy in using AI for creative and problem-solving tasks over time. It also examines whether perceptions of enjoyment, intelligence, usefulness, and overall attitudes to AI contribute to explaining these changes in self-efficacy. WP5 Büsra/Teresa https://aspredicted.org/kx5r-4pxq.pdf --> This WP explores whether people increasingly see AI agents as social actors rather than tools over time. Furthermore, it examines how this change in role perception shapes perceived closeness, loneliness, perceived intelligence, and behavioral intentions to use AI. WP6 Angelica/Gerrit https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/JAUD4 --> This WP explores the evolution of people's attitudes toward AI, subjective and objective knowledge about AI, and risk-opportunity perceptions regarding AI developments. WP7 M. Prentice --> WP8 Steffi/Sonja https://osf.io/f3jyc?view_only=d8d009e575c64dc2bd453f969c3cb7b1 --> This WP examines how perception of AI as tool or social actor and interaction modality (text vs. voice) shape credibility perceptions through feelings of social presence, enjoyment, and perceived intelligence in the short and long term. WP9 Steffi https://osf.io/h5fwe?view_only=8c5bc9e62074469ebdb3d72b38f4716d --> This WP investigates how interactions with AI impact frequent users’ attitudes and behavior towards other people. WP10 Christina https://aspredicted.org/h7vf8s.pdf --> The work package examines why individuals currently do not use communicative AI, identifying the perceptions and concerns underlying their non-use and how they differ from active users.
